Day 6 - Whatever Tickles My Fancy

If you know me, you know that I love Disney. Even if you don't know me, if you read my last post I said I loved Disney. Anyway, I love Disney, I love the Disney Princesses, and Sleeping Beauty is my ALL-TIME favorite! So, here's the pic of Sleeping Beauty and me from our Disney World trip in November of 2009. We were at The World Showcase, near France and I spotted her in the gardens. She had just gotten over to the gardens so I was probably 4th or 5th in line to meet her. I was so excited! It's kind of an embarrassing picture for me because I have lost around 30 pounds or more since it was taken so just look past that and look at the smile on my face and the hidden creeped out look on Sleeping Beauty's face because a 26 year old loves her! LOL!

Day 5 - My Favorite Quote

Let me be honest, I don't really have a "favorite" quote. Just little sayings here and there or a line from a movie. I'm not sure if it counts to you, but for me it works!

"Love is a song that never ends"
-Bambi

I'm a romantic and a Disney lover so this fit just right, plus Bambi is just a classic.

Day 4- My Favorite Book

My favorite book is "Walt Disney: An American Original". Just about everyone knows that I love Disney World and this book gives you a great background of Walt & his vision.

Day 3 - My Favorite Television Program

My all time favorite television program has got to be "The X-Files". Yes, of course I know it doesn't come on anymore and hasn't in some time. I really enjoyed it apart from it scaring me most of the time, ha ha. I really liked how it wasn't just about aliens but the paranormal as well. There was also such a great chemistry between Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. I wish they would re-run the series!

Day 2- My Favorite Movie

I have alot of favorite movies, all in different genres of course! But if I had to pick 1 and only 1 it would be 1985's "Legend" starring a young Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, and Tim Curry. I'm not sure if EVERY little girl wants to be a princess and have her prince save her, especially in today's world...but this little girl did!

If you like classic fantasy type movies, this movie is Grade A and has it all! A princess, a prince, unicorns, fairies, goblins, and a scary demon...not to mention a fantastic soundtrack and yes, I own that as well as the special 2 disc edition dvd. This movie was directed by Ridley Scott, who also directed Blade Runner, Alien, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, and American Gangster to name a few. I'm not sure he or any of the actors are proud of this movie now, but I'm so glad it was made!

Here's a somewhat brief synopsis: Princess Lily (Mia Sara) is in love with Jack (Tom Cruise). Darkness (Tim Curry) wants to kill the last unicorns so he can rule the earth. Unicorns are attracted only to the pure so, naturally, they're attracted to Lily. Jack takes her to see the unicorns and while she is touching one (against Jack's better judgement)the unicorn is vulnerable and Darkness's minions shoot a poison arrow into it. The sky suddenly turns black and winter falls upon the land. The minions chop off one of the unicorn's horns, takes the other unicorn and takes Lily to Darkness's castle where he plans to turn Lily evil, marry her and kill the other unicorn. All the while, Jack and his dwarf & fairy friends prepare to save the unicorn and Lily. They go into the castle, kill some bad guys, let in sunlight which blasts Darkness into space, save the unicorn, reconnect the other unicorn's horn, and kisses Princess Lily to wake her up from a spell Darkness put her under. The last scene you see Lily and Jack on the other side of a valley waving goodbye to their fairy, dwarf and unicorn friends...the screen fades to black, the music starts playing, then you see Darkness's face laughing.

Fantastic!

Day 1 — Your Favorite Song

My favorite song...
Wow, just thinking about this makes my heart beat faster. Music flows through my veins, it has played (and still plays) such an integral part of my life. I have never NOT been around music growing up. My dad has played guitar and some bass in numerous bands, he totally rocks and I am giving him total credit for my music genius. Yes, I said genius. He made me listen to classic rock growing up and always quizzed me on who it was(and I'm pretty good)...and he does it now with my younger siblings. When my sister Alex was about 5 or 6 she could tell you all the members of KISS..which equals total awesomeness! Enough of that...back to my favorite. It makes it especially difficult to name one "absolute" favorite, so many genres, so many choices, so many songs that I can listen to and be taken back to a memory. So here it goes..favorite song, not only for the music but for lyrics as well, which I will share (aka, copy and paste from a lyric website, ha ha ha).

Tara's Favorite Song

Blue Oyster Cult's "Burning For You"
You probably heard of the band by the famous SNL skit "More Cowbell". Same band, different song.

Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isn't pretty
Ain't no home for me

Home in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isn't my way
Home will never be

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due

And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

Time is the essence
Time is the season
Time ain't no reason
Got no time to slow

Time everlasting
Time to play besides
Time ain't on my side
Time I'll never know

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right
I've seen signs of what (freezing their eyes) went through

Well I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due

And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you

Let me explain. These lyrics don't really reflect anything about me, the whole "home isn't pretty, home will never be", doesn't really pertain to me. I just really like this song and the music. I actually saw the band live back in 2003 and hearing it live just did it for me.

I asked Larry if he had a favorite song and he was like "nope". LOL, maybe he'll chime in on another favorite :)

August is my Catch Up Post!

So, I started this blog to post monthly. Yeah, we all see how that's gone! Anyway, I'm here to play catch up.

Ok, I can't remember If I put it on here but I got my hair cut off a few months back. Not a trim, we're talking "cut"! 19 1/2 inches to be exact. It was time for a change. My hair is super thick and it was heavy! So I decided to donate it to "Locks of Love". I even got a thank you postcard back from them. I loved doing it, it really made me feel good.

Larry is no longer with Golden Corral here in Duncan. He's moved on to bigger and better things with a company called Ecolab.

His title is "Hospitality Territory Manger" or HTM for short. He has a list of about 100 hotels/nursing homes/schools/hospitals in the Oklahoma City area (Norman, Moore, OKC) that he travels to, sells products and troubleshoots facility equipment like washers, dryers, pH levels in pools and spas, etc. His company has been gracious to allow us to live in Duncan while he commutes to the city. He's been provided a company car, gas stipend, laptop/tablet, tons of products and tools. With his personality he's going to really succeed in his job. We're both really excited!

On a negative note, I've let my working out routine suck. I haven't gained but I haven't lost...I've totally plateaued! Boo! Oh well, I'm getting back into it slowly.

No babies yet :) However, I did purchase a Vera Bradley diaper bag. No worries, it's not really this tiny, LOL!

I found out they were discontinuing my pattern "Calypso". All of it is on sale and I just knew this was the diaper bag for me. So I bought it. Larry had no idea until the Fed Ex guy dropped it off after work! He saw the white Vera box and said "did you buy a purse?" and I said "well, it could be used as a purse!". He didn't freak or anything, he just said "that's cool, by the time we have kids you won't need diaper bags". Great. We'll get there some day. I guess. Slim chance. Don't hold your breath.

Right now we're just waiting to book our annual Jackson Family Disney World Vacation. By "family" I mean just him and me :) Can't wait! We're planning on going December 5th-11th as opposed to the past two years going the second week in November. Probably won't be too different though. By the time we get there, they've already decorated for Christmas and playing Christmas music. I love it! I can't imagine going in the summer. Yuck! Talk about irritating! Anyway, it's going to be great!

Summer is almost over. I can't wait for the crisp fall air, leaves changing color, hot cider, pumpkin spice candles, football & fireplaces. Sign me up!
