August is my Catch Up Post!

So, I started this blog to post monthly. Yeah, we all see how that's gone! Anyway, I'm here to play catch up.
Ok, I can't remember If I put it on here but I got my hair cut off a few months back. Not a trim, we're talking "cut"! 19 1/2 inches to be exact. It was time for a change. My hair is super thick and it was heavy! So I decided to donate it to "Locks of Love". I even got a thank you postcard back from them. I loved doing it, it really made me feel good.
Larry is no longer with Golden Corral here in Duncan. He's moved on to bigger and better things with a company called Ecolab.
His title is "Hospitality Territory Manger" or HTM for short. He has a list of about 100 hotels/nursing homes/schools/hospitals in the Oklahoma City area (Norman, Moore, OKC) that he travels to, sells products and troubleshoots facility equipment like washers, dryers, pH levels in pools and spas, etc. His company has been gracious to allow us to live in Duncan while he commutes to the city. He's been provided a company car, gas stipend, laptop/tablet, tons of products and tools. With his personality he's going to really succeed in his job. We're both really excited!
On a negative note, I've let my working out routine suck. I haven't gained but I haven't lost...I've totally plateaued! Boo! Oh well, I'm getting back into it slowly.
No babies yet :) However, I did purchase a Vera Bradley diaper bag. No worries, it's not really this tiny, LOL!

I found out they were discontinuing my pattern "Calypso". All of it is on sale and I just knew this was the diaper bag for me. So I bought it. Larry had no idea until the Fed Ex guy dropped it off after work! He saw the white Vera box and said "did you buy a purse?" and I said "well, it could be used as a purse!". He didn't freak or anything, he just said "that's cool, by the time we have kids you won't need diaper bags". Great. We'll get there some day. I guess. Slim chance. Don't hold your breath.
Right now we're just waiting to book our annual Jackson Family Disney World Vacation. By "family" I mean just him and me :) Can't wait! We're planning on going December 5th-11th as opposed to the past two years going the second week in November. Probably won't be too different though. By the time we get there, they've already decorated for Christmas and playing Christmas music. I love it! I can't imagine going in the summer. Yuck! Talk about irritating! Anyway, it's going to be great!

Summer is almost over. I can't wait for the crisp fall air, leaves changing color, hot cider, pumpkin spice candles, football & fireplaces. Sign me up!

XOXO

March 2010 - A Sequel to April 2010
April 2010
So, I guess I should catch everyone up on what's going on with the Jacksons. We sold the Beamer (did I tell yall that before?) anyway, Larry's parents in San Antonio found us a 2001 Chevy Suburban that was used on a ranch. The burb was in good shape minus a dent in the rear bumper and some brush scratches on the side. Other than that, it's in great condition and I always wanted one! Now we can take my family on road trips with us and when I have 6 kids (haha, soo just kidding) it will come in handy! Now the caddy is in SA trying to be sold but if it doesn't sell down there we may just take it back and use it as a second vehicle for a while.
We're still trying to plan our third trip to Disney World for the first week in December. We haven't bought our tickets yet but hopefully with our tax return we can do that. I'm so ready for a vacay! I know it's a while away, but just planning for it is exciting!
I'm still excercising pretty much every day. I'm down 26 pounds since September, but I could still do better. I finally hit the 2000 calories burned mark last friday 4/16. Actually it was 2026! I've picked out a 2 piece from VS that I want but I haven't purchased it yet. I still want to lose more, plus I'm hoping it goes on sale!
We're doing some small renovations in our house. Larry has taken down most of the cherry wallpaper in the kitchen (which I really liked but whatever). Now he has to take down the rest of it, texture and paint the walls. We are going to repaint the living room and den too. We just want to hire somebody to do it though. When we first moved in it was an ugly peach color, we had it painted "Autumn Stroll" which is really a more burnt orange color and now we want it more neutral like a stone or a grey color. I really liked the Autumn Stroll but it's just too much for two large rooms. Larry also took out the cabinets over the bar and now we're missing one smaller cabinet door and some stain. We have to get this all done before I host Bunco in September!
So, that's it for now!

Time To Blog Again...Nothing Special, Just Updating
Ok, so since it's been almost a month since I've blogged I guess it's that time again. So I'll play catch up on what's been going on with us Jacksons.
First of all, we still love being in Duncan. It's such a great little town even though I will catch myself complaining of nothing to do at times. We're so blessed to be here with family, friends and our church family.
Second, we sold our BMW, a.k.a. "Beamie". I'm such a snob..no really, I am. I love expensive things, luxury, etc. It makes me feel good knowing that I have nice things and thinking that other people think that I have nice things too. Does that make sense what I just typed? Anyway, we're trying to decrease our debt, which is the smart thing to do because living with alot of debt is stressful and I hate it! I hate living paycheck to paycheck, not being able to spend money, and it's just not good. So since we sold Beamie, we'll be saving around $300 a month.
Now we're going to try and sell the SRX, a.k.a. "Bobo". That will make me even more sad; because of my dad I have an unnatural emotional attachment to inanimate objects...like they have feelings and stuff. We've had Bobo alot longer than Beamie and he (yes, Bobo and Beamie were both a "he"). So, the SRX is a really nice vehicle too. Then we're going to purchase a very cheap vehicle that we can pay off quickly and not have to make payments on very long. I just will have to swallow my pride when really I will want to tell people, "Hey, I may not have a nice car now but I used to have a BMW and a Caddy! Do you want to see my collection of Coach and Vera handbags?? See, I have nice stuff! Don't judge my ride!!" Gosh, that's so petty and wrong. I'm just shaking my head in disgust right now. I don't want people to judge me by my stuff so why do I judge others? Hard lesson to learn.
Third. We're thinking about going to Disney World again in December. This refers to the above "getting rid of debt" topic. We have to get rid of some debt in order to pay for this vacation. Duh, not rocket science.
Fourth. My weight loss is going superb. Since September I've lost 20lbs. However, I am going to kick it up a notch. My bestie and her friend were talking about posting a pic of them in their bathing suits on facebook around June or July. I'm totally in if I lose the weight. I'm such a negative person, again a trait from my dad, people have told me I look smaller and I say "thanks" but I also say "I can't really tell a difference". I should just say thank you and move on.
Ok, so we're also ready for spring storms but our basement isn't. We want to turn it into a media room/man cave but we have some sort of leak and our basement has like 6 inches of water in it! We've got to get it repaired for storm season. You never know with a winter like we had if the storm season will be more tame or be totally intense and since we have an indoor basement I want to use it!
So, I've filled you all in. Oh, and Larry and Princess are doing fantastic too :)

Blaze of Glory
Ok, so this post is about traveling..more specific would be a "method" of traveling, which is flying. Recently, a day ago, Larry and I made a small, quick trip back down to SA. We drove our Beamer down there to sell it and were going to fly back to OKC. I have a love-hate relationship with flying. It's definitely the fastest method of travel and said to be the safest. Well, I beg to differ. I pretty much have an invisible panic attack right when taking off and then every time we hit turbulence. I always try to think of weird ways to calm myself down. I usually squeeze Larry's leg or hand with one of my hands and then grip the seatbelt with my other hand until it's shaking or my knuckles are white and mentally, I'm pretty much a loon. Let's discuss that further. Let's see, when taking off I pray like a wild person (quietly inside my head) and then once we're in the air I always sing to myself "Let's Go Fly a Kite" the classic from Mary Poppins. Why? I don't know. I just always do. This last time I was hearing that song in my head and "Blaze of Glory" by Bon Jovi. I was like shut up Bon Jovi, just shut up! I do NOT want to go "down in a blaze of glory" 50,000 feet in the air! Talk about psyching yourself up. Usually I can keep myself occupied by talking to Larry, reading the "Sky Mall" catalog, watching a movie, listening to music(Continental is the best) or getting waaay excited about our destination...when it's Disney World. Usually on the flights to Orlando I'm totally excited and don't even care.
I'm always afraid we'll crash or get hijacked. C'mon you can't be reading this post and tell me you haven't checked out all the people on your flight. You know, who's the terrorist, who's going to take charge, yadda yadda yadda. I'm not going to lie, I totally think those things. Hey, it's 2010 people and in the words of Peter Griffin from Family Guy "9/11 changed everything". I was even telling Larry that I would love to take a vacation to Hawaii but I couldn't handle the flight time. I just now went to continental.com to look at the flight times, and grant it, they all had layovers, all of them were over 10 hours. Do you know how stressed and how sweaty my armpits would be? Ridiculous!
What I do like about flying is that it's fast, normally a 1 or 2 day drive to Orlando is like 5 hours! And who wants to wait when you're going to Disney?!
Anyway, that's my relationship with flying.

Welcome Back Home
Well, I wanted it and I got it. I love getting what I want by the way. I enjoyed living in San Antonio, as far as food and entertainment go, it blows Duncan and Oklahoma out of the water! You want rollercoasters? How about Fiesta Texas? You want Shamu? Try SeaWorld (only 3 in the world). Riverwalk? Well you could go to the lame excuse for one in OKC but it's NEVER going to beat the original. And don't get me started on food and restaurants..and did I forget shopping? No way! La Cantera is awesome! Coach, Tiffany's, Anthropologie, Apple, BCBG Max Azria, Vera Bradley, American Apparel (sigh,I totally miss that store)...and tons others. All in an "open air" shopping center. But the weather down there is ridiculous. Growing up in Oklahoma, December meant cold, Christmas meant snow (usually), Spring meant thunderstorms and tornados. Not there. Christmas Eve 2008 was spent all day at work (versus only till noon here)with stupid people yelling at you like usual, and then looking at Christmas lights with windows rolled down in 60-70 degree weather. Bummer. So I was totally stoked when we got a stinkin blizzard for our first Christmas back! It was like we were making up for 2 Christmases lost.
Then came the ice. I like ice, it can be pretty until it lands on a tree limb and almost crushes your chiminea. Thank goodness it didn't. Santa picked that out for Larry! Oh and did I mention the power outage? I think we lost ours from Thursday to Sunday. I'm not sure because Friday after I helped out at work until about 1:00 we headed out to Frisco to stay with the Aunt and Uncle. We had so much fun spending time with the family but didn't love that the electricity was out back in Duncan. I was just telling Larry that I can't imagine having a bitty baby to care of during that time. I think I might have been stressed out. I can't believe there are still families going on 7 or 8 days without power and with bitty babies!
There was talk from the Farmer's Almanac that we're supposed to get another bad winter storm around February and March? I just went to the website and it said for February 16th-19th. Stormy. 20th-23rd. Snowstorm, with 5"-10" inches possible. Heaviest in Oklahoma. Hmm...could be interesting. I'll let you know if I find anything else out.
Speaking of babies...I think I want one!
